Organic Food

"Satisfying taste, body, and mind while respecting the natural world"

Organic Foods

If you are like the majority of people today, you may have a difficult time being able to afford many organic products.  It may not be necessary to buy everything organic.  Some of the most important organic foods to purchase are pesticide-laden produce and products which come from animals.

Big Agribusiness and pesticide manufacturers would like consumers to believe that the products they sell are safe, even though they may be laden with chemicals and "safe" as defined by the USDA.  However, "Absence of knowledge is not proof of safety."
Environmental Working Group

The Environmental Working Group has a lot of great information including "Pesticides in Produce" which ranks fruits and veggies according to pesticide levels.  The higher the levels, the more important it is to buy these products grown organically.

A sustainable future for our children depends on the way we care for the environment today and the way our food is produced makes a huge impact on every aspect of it.  "Going Green" must start with what we eat!  The Organic Consumers Association has tons of information, articles, even video.

When it comes to meat, eggs, and dairy products, just because it's organic doesn't necessarily mean it is the most healthy product available.  Grass-fed food is nutritionally superior to products from animals raised on grains, even organic varieties.

Buying locally grown foods may be the best purchase you can make because the food is fresher, may cost less, and supports your local farmers and economy.  It is also better for the environment because the food hasn't been transported across the U.S. or imported from another country.

Also consider the original principles that the organic food movement was based on: sustainability, health, nutrition, safety, ecology, and "anti-corporatism".
