"Home
is where
you live; a healthy home is where you thrive."
We
strive to
keep our kids healthy. We want our home to be a warm and
comforting place where children are nurtured and provided with all they
need to grow and thrive. Unfortunately, the home is also full of
invisible toxins which are contributing to the prevelance of health
problems and poor quality of life for many children.
According to Environmental Working Group, "Babies are born pre-polluted with as
many as 300 industrial chemicals in their bodies!" The
ironic thing is that in many cases it is the very products we buy to
improve
our quality of life that threaten our kids.
Turn on
the television or read through the news (newspaper or online) and you
will be bombarded with advertising. Companies are constantly
coming up with "new and improved" products to clean, sanitize, and
deordorize our homes. We have hundreds of options from scents
and styles, to sprays and gels, to products that seem to work like
magic; all claiming to improve our quality of life. We want
everything faster and easier today; we expect convenience and value
this above all else.
The next generation will pay for our
convenience.
I know it is hard to hear, but we must wake up! Check out

Wow--OMG!
That's what you're thinking after seeing your child's world
through the eyes of activists who are educating the public
about the chemicals in our environment. The video is from
Healthy Child Healthy World and
their site has information about how
you can help protect children. It is up to parents like us to
demand a change for the sake of the next generation.
Environmental Working Group ("a research
organization
based in Washington, D.C. that uses the power of information to protect
human health and the environment") has launched an interactive
site for information about the
Kids-Safe Chemicals Act; much needed
and overdue legislation to help protect our children. You
will
also find scientific information and great articles about protecting
your kids and yourself from toxins lurking in your home.
